Lopez Island

Curtis, Jrae, Jeah, and I went camping on Lopez Island at Odlin Park for a long weekend with Uncles, Aunts, and lots of cousins. Together the group has three boats, and we almost don't have enough for all of us to go. They do this trip every year and this is our second year to go and his nieces really enjoy going with us for they don't camp much otherwise. Curtis has a great family!

Day 1
- Sunday
We got up and made breakfast for us and the girls before Curtis, Jeah, and I went fishing. It was so nice out and being on the boat was so peaceful and relaxing. Curtis was a maniac and caught 8 fish in about 20 minutes while Jeah caught one and I decided just to watch. Once we got back to the campground the group had decided to take a boat ride to Friday Harbor to get ice cream. What an awesome boat ride and Friday harbor it quite a beautiful town. Once we finally got back to camp it was time for dinner. Curtis and I made stir fry for dinner and the girls loved it. So far the girls were having a good time and so was Curtis and I. We hung out by the campfire for a bit but we were exhausted and went to bed with the sun.

Day 2 - Monday
Curtis and I got up and headed into town to get some things we were running out of. We stopped at the little bakery and got a peach danish to share and this was the best pastry I have ever had! Once we got back we made the girls breakfast and then all four of us went out on the boat fishing. This time Jrae was the only one that caught a fish and she was super excited. When we got back to camp, we heard that a group of Orca whales were in the area. So we decided take the boats out to find them. WOW, did we ever find them! We found a pod of 12 and sat and watched them for an hour. They were all around us and coming really close to the boats. One of our boats saw the whale go underneath the boat and Curtis got a video of it.

Back at camp we made hot dogs for dinner and all hung out around the camp fire while Jrae and Jeah were telling stories and doing skits. They were pretty funny to watch! :-) Just before the sun went down, Curtis and I took a walk along the beach and found a log to sit on to watch the sunset. It was a special time together and we really enjoyed it. Then we were off to bed with the sun again.

Day 3 - Tuesday
After breakfast we started to pack up camp and get ready to leave. We took our time and had a fun morning. After we were all packed up we got in line for the ferry to try and catch the 12:30pm but missed it by about 8 cars. The girls were starting to get hungry again so we brought out the carrots and juice while Jeah read Matilda to the kids while we waited for the 2pm ferry. We finally made it home around 6pm after dropping the girls off and ordered pizza for dinner. It was an early night. We were exhausted and went to bed not much after that.

What an awesome weekend! See pictures
