Today was another fun day. For breakfast we got crepes at a street fare and spent a little bit of time looking around before heading into Central Park. We started at W 97th and made our way down to E 59th. We saw the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir, Great Lawn, Turtle pond, Belvedere Castle, The Lake, Bow Bridge, Bethesda Terrace, Loeb Boathouse, Cherry Hill, Rumsey Playfield, The Mall, Sheep Meadow, Carousel, Wollman Rink, and The Pond. The highlights were the row boat ride in The Lake, the dancing group by the Terrace, the pedi cab through The Mall, and the Carousel ride (video). On the lake Mike taught Evan how to row and he did quite a good job. He only drenched us a few times! ;-) We saw lots of turtle around the lake and both the boys had to pick them up and they even made me hold one. Of couse the one I held was mad and even took a snap at Mike....I didn't hold him for long! Just before we left the park Evan found some fun rocks to climb, he really enjoyed that.
We then stopped at FAO Schwartz where Evan played on the piano from the movie BIG. (video) This is also the same store where the movie was filmed. On our way to the next toy store we stopped off at Nathan's by MSG for a corn dog. SO NUMMY!!! Evan liked it so much he wanted a second one! Then we made it Toys R Us in Times Square where they have a huge faris wheel in the middle of the store. We took a ride on it and had fun looking around at all the toys. The ride kept stopping and Mike thinks they stastegically stop you in different spots so the kids have time to see what they want you to buy them! :-) I wouldn't be surprised!
After we left the boys were still hungry. Mike has been wanting to try a lamb gyros since they got here so I found a cart nearbye. He and Evan ate that so fast we stopped at another cart a block down so Mike could get another one! Evan saw an ice cream van and opted for a cone. Always fun to hop from cart to cart :-)On our way home we stopped at the 59th stop so Mike and Evan could see some rats. Mike even got a funny video of one. What another fun packed day with the boys! I can't believe they have to leave tomorrow :-( see pictures
