Governors Island

Around 10am Curtis and I left my apt and headed for Governors Island. This was the last weekend for the Island to be open to the public. From south ferry we took a free ferry to the island and rented bikes for about two hours. We had such a fun time riding around and looking at things. Curtis stopped and read most of the signs and then told me all about the cool stuff. There is a lot of neat history on the island. Also, the view of the city from the island was spectacular! What a blast we had to together!

Once we got back into Manhattan we walked through Wall street to Brooklyn bridge and caught the subway to 8th St to check out McSorley's Old Ale House. This place has been here since 1854 and has a lot of neat history that makes this place special. One cool thing is that it was said that soldiers going off to WWI would have their last turkey dinner here and place their wishbone on the chandelier before heading off. That chandelier is still there with the hanging wishbones from all the soldiers that didn't make it back home. Curtis and I had a good time looking around at all the old posters on the wall and ordered the famous dish, cheese, crackers, and raw onions. It was actually really good! See pictures
